Focusing on specific areas

However, what Shona wants you to know is that focusing on specific areas is a complete waste of time. No matter what part of your body you want to tone up or lose weight on, it’s important to ensure that you are working on your whole body at once. Targeting specific areas won’t have the desired effect you’re looking for and will just waste your time when you could be being more productive.

Not lifting enough

Hands up if you have ever made your way into the weight section of the gym and then quickly retreated back into your own little corner with the smallest dumbbells in your hand? We wouldn’t be surprised if most women had done that. One of the main reasons for this is because weights can be intimidating, and many people associate lifting heavy weights with huge muscles and bodybuilder-like-physiques. This could come in the form of a social media influencer, or someone you know who is posting all of their fitness content for the ‘Gram. Shona notes that following these people could lead you to serious injury or disappointment because you’re not achieving the desired results. If you really want to make a difference and jump on the fitness bandwagon, follow the advice of reputable personal trainers and those you can really trust.
