Let’s face it; not all of us want to get up and active every minute of the day. Thankfully, that doesn’t mean we have to stay on the couch for the rest of our lives, especially thanks to these fun ways to get moving if you hate working out.
Join a team
There are so many hobbies out there that it can be tough to know where to start. One great place is looking at teams in your local community to see what’s on offer. You don’t have to limit yourself to high-energy sports either. Joining something like the local bowling team means you can meet new friends while still enjoying some active time away from the house.
Do some chores
If you want to get two things done at once and get moving even though you hate exercise, then look no further than chores. Something moderate, such as vacuuming the house or washing your car, can be enough to get our hearts pumping and burn some calories without thinking of it as exercise. It also means we can sit back and enjoy the fruits of our labor when we’re done.
It turns out that we don’t have to leave the house to enjoy some active time. In fact, there are so many video games that mean we may never have to leave our front room again. Of course, there are plenty of exercise games, but virtual sports – such as tennis or baseball – all help get the blood pumping.
There are plenty of reasons to get dancing. Ever had one of those moments when the music takes over, and you just want to get up and dance? Embrace it! Dance like no one is watching and, if they are, then rope them into throwing some shapes, too. All you need is a little space and your favorite tunes to have some fun.
Many of us love to get out in nature. Now, we can enjoy some sunshine and find a way to exercise even though we hate the idea as gardening does both things at once. Even something as simple as 30 minutes of digging out a bed or raking the lawn means we can have a full workout without ever stepping foot in the gym.
This might sound simple, but walking is more important in our lives than many of us realize. You don’t even have to go for a walk for the sake of going for a walk. Perhaps it’s time to take the dog out for a daily adventure? Maybe you could move that 9 am meeting outdoors and bring walking meetings to the office? Whatever the case, a daily walk can have incredible benefits on our health.
Believe it or not, but there are so many fun ways to get moving if you hate exercise. Thankfully, they are so much fun that most of us forget that we’re even exercising in the first place, meaning you don’t have to feel like dedicating hours to something you don’t enjoy.
